Local Health
Effective September 19, 2026
Important healthcare notice
Local Health helps people find and manage care, but it does not provide medical advice or emergency services. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
These Terms are written for Local Health's current Canadian marketplace, patient, provider, booking, messaging, virtual-care, and subscription features. They should be read together with the Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms shown to you.
These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of Local Health, including localhealthcare.ca, patient accounts, provider and practice accounts, clinic and provider profiles, appointment tools, messaging, virtual-care link tools, support features, integrations, and related services.
By creating an account, booking or managing an appointment, activating a provider subscription, or otherwise using Local Health, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you use Local Health on behalf of another person or an organization, you represent that you have authority to do so.
Additional terms shown during checkout, provider onboarding, identity or credential verification, or use of a third-party integration form part of these Terms for that feature.
Local Health is a healthcare marketplace and practice technology platform. It helps people discover healthcare professionals, compare public information, view availability, book or manage appointments, communicate about appointments, and access provider-supplied virtual-care links.
Local Health is not a healthcare provider, clinic, insurer, pharmacy, emergency service, or substitute for professional medical advice. Local Health does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, determine medical necessity, or make clinical decisions.
Healthcare professionals and practices listed on Local Health are independent from Local Health. They remain responsible for the healthcare they provide, professional standards, informed consent, clinical records, privacy obligations, billing practices, and compliance with their regulators.
Do not use Local Health to obtain help for a medical emergency. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Search results, provider profiles, appointment availability, messages, automated tools, and other Local Health content are not designed to assess whether a situation is urgent or life-threatening.
You must provide accurate, current information and use Local Health only for lawful purposes. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activity performed through your account, except to the extent caused by Local Health's own failure to use reasonable safeguards.
Patient account credentials are intended for the account holder. Provider practices should give each authorized staff member their own account rather than sharing credentials.
Local Health may use email verification, multi-factor authentication, rate limits, account lockouts, session controls, device information, and other safeguards to protect accounts. You must not bypass or interfere with those controls.
Family tools are intended for situations where the account holder has lawful authority or valid permission to help another person manage care. Relationship alone does not always create authority to access another person's health or appointment information.
Local Health may require a separate invitation, direct consent, identity verification, or manual review before family access is enabled. An account holder cannot approve their own consent request on behalf of another person.
You must stop using family access if your authority ends or if the person whose information is involved withdraws permission, subject to any records Local Health must retain by law.
Providers and practices are responsible for the accuracy of information they submit or control, including names, professional titles, licence or registration information, services, locations, fees, insurance information, availability, biographies, photos, and booking links.
Local Health may verify identity, professional credentials, registration status, or practice information before or after a profile becomes publicly available. Verification is intended to reduce risk, but it is not a guarantee of clinical quality, suitability, outcomes, or future good standing.
Local Health may refuse, pause, restrict, or remove a profile where verification cannot be completed or maintained, where information appears materially inaccurate, or where continued profile visibility could create legal, safety, security, or trust concerns.
Search and matching results may use location, profession, services, insurance preferences, availability, new-patient status, user-selected filters, provider-supplied information, and marketplace settings.
If Local Health provides an AI-assisted or automated care-search feature, its output is for navigation and informational purposes only. It is not a diagnosis, medical recommendation, triage service, or substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
Local Health does not guarantee that a particular provider is appropriate for a user's condition, that a provider will accept a patient, or that a particular appointment time will remain available.
Appointments booked through Local Health are subject to the provider's availability and may also be subject to the provider's own scheduling, cancellation, deposit, late-arrival, or no-show policies.
Local Health may display availability supplied directly by a provider or through a connected scheduling system. Availability can change between the time it is displayed and the time a booking is completed.
Patients and providers may be able to reschedule or cancel eligible Local Health bookings through the platform. Where an appointment is controlled by a connected scheduling system, some changes may need to be made through that system to prevent calendar conflicts or inconsistent records.
Patients may add external appointments as personal reminders. A patient-added reminder does not create or modify an appointment in a provider's system and is not provider-confirmed unless separately verified.
Local Health may allow a provider to add a secure link from the provider's chosen virtual-care or video service. Local Health does not operate the underlying video service unless expressly stated.
Patients and providers are responsible for using the virtual-care service in accordance with the provider's instructions and the third party's terms. Internet quality, device compatibility, and third-party outages are outside Local Health's control.
For privacy, Local Health may require a patient to sign in before displaying a provider-supplied virtual appointment link. Appointment emails may link back to Local Health rather than including the private virtual-care URL directly.
Appointment messaging is intended for administrative communication related to an appointment. It should not be relied on for emergencies or time-sensitive clinical advice.
Users must not send abusive, unlawful, threatening, deceptive, discriminatory, harassing, or malicious content. Users should avoid sending information that is not reasonably needed for the appointment or support request.
Local Health may send transactional communications needed to operate the service, such as account verification, security notices, appointment confirmations, changes, cancellations, virtual-link notices, support responses, invoices, and billing notices.
Insurance information on Local Health is provided for convenience and matching. A provider's statement that they accept an insurer does not guarantee that a particular service is covered, eligible for reimbursement, or available for direct billing.
Patients are responsible for confirming coverage, benefit limits, referral requirements, deductibles, coordination of benefits, direct-billing eligibility, and any other plan rules with their insurer and provider.
Local Health is not an insurer and does not make coverage or reimbursement decisions.
Provider subscription pricing is shown during activation and depends on the clinic category and number of active practitioners. Larger or multi-location clinics require a custom quote. The amount shown at checkout governs the subscription being purchased.
Eligible new practices may receive a three-calendar-month introductory trial when that trial is shown during checkout. A valid payment method may be required to start the trial. Unless the subscription is cancelled before the trial ends, the selected monthly or annual subscription begins charging automatically at the rate and frequency shown during checkout.
Introductory trials are intended for new eligible practices and may not be repeatedly claimed by cancelling and creating new accounts or otherwise attempting to avoid normal subscription charges.
New Local Health subscriptions do not have a separate annual maintenance or licensing charge. Historical invoices remain available; pre-existing fee schedules must be reconciled before the revised terms are released.
Clinics may select monthly billing or an annual subscription at a 15% discount to twelve monthly payments. Annual plans are charged for one year at a time; the selected amount, billing date, renewal terms, and introductory trial (when eligible) are presented before checkout. A change to an existing subscription requires a confirmed billing change.
Up to ten eligible clinics may receive lifetime complimentary founding-clinic access by invitation. This membership applies to the registered clinic, not an individual staff account, does not require a payment card, and does not automatically convert to a paid subscription. Separate clinic locations and materially different operating arrangements require prior agreement.
Taxes are included where the checkout page expressly states that they are included. Local Health may change pricing prospectively, but will provide notice where required and will not retroactively change a completed billing period.
Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. Local Health does not intend to store full payment-card numbers or card security codes in its own application database.
Cancelling a provider subscription prevents future renewals according to the cancellation terms shown in the billing flow. Cancellation does not automatically refund a completed billing period or other charge that was properly due.
Subscription charges are generally non-refundable once charged, except where required by law or where Local Health approves a refund for matters such as a duplicate charge, billing error, or other exceptional circumstance. Historical charges remain subject to the terms applicable when paid.
Nothing in these Terms removes a refund, cancellation, disclosure, or other consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.
Local Health may connect to or rely on third-party services for payment processing, cloud hosting, email delivery, identity verification, analytics, scheduling, practice-management systems, authentication, and other functions.
Third-party services have their own terms, privacy practices, availability, and security responsibilities. Local Health is not responsible for a third party's independent acts or omissions, but will use reasonable contractual and technical measures where a third party processes information on Local Health's behalf.
A link to an external provider website, booking service, or other third-party service does not mean Local Health controls or endorses all content, policies, or services offered there.
You must not use Local Health to break the law, violate another person's rights, impersonate another person, access information without authorization, transmit malware or malicious code, probe or bypass security controls, scrape restricted account information, disrupt the service, or interfere with another user's use of Local Health.
You must not use automated tools to access restricted parts of Local Health in a way that bypasses access controls, rate limits, or other safeguards. Public search-engine indexing that Local Health expressly permits is not prohibited by this section.
You must not upload, post, or send content that is fraudulent, defamatory, unlawfully discriminatory, threatening, harassing, sexually exploitative, privacy-invasive, infringing, or otherwise unlawful.
You retain ownership of content you lawfully submit to Local Health. You grant Local Health a limited licence to host, process, display, transmit, and otherwise use that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, and improve the service, or as otherwise permitted by the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right and authority to submit content and personal information through your account.
Local Health may remove or restrict content where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law, or respond to a valid rights complaint.
Local Health and its licensors own the platform software, branding, design, original content, and other intellectual property that is not owned by users or third parties.
You may use Local Health for its intended purposes, but you may not copy, reverse engineer, modify, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit protected platform materials except where law permits or Local Health gives written permission.
Local Health's collection, use, disclosure, retention, and protection of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.
Healthcare providers and practices may have their own privacy notices and legal obligations. When Local Health processes information on behalf of a provider or practice, the roles and responsibilities of the parties may also be governed by a separate agreement.
Local Health aims to provide a reliable service, but software, integrations, networks, and third-party systems can experience interruptions, errors, delays, or maintenance.
Local Health may modify, suspend, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, product changes, third-party changes, or service operations. Where a material paid feature is discontinued, Local Health will handle affected subscriptions in accordance with applicable law and any specific billing commitments.
Local Health may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users or the platform, investigate suspected misuse, enforce these Terms, comply with law, respond to a security incident, or address a material payment issue.
Where appropriate, Local Health will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Immediate action may be taken where delay could create material risk or where law requires it.
Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including payment obligations already incurred, intellectual property terms, privacy obligations, disclaimers, and liability provisions, continue to apply.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Local Health is provided on an as-available basis. Local Health does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free software, uninterrupted third-party integrations, provider availability, insurance coverage, clinical outcomes, or the accuracy of information that is controlled by independent providers or third parties.
Local Health does not endorse or guarantee a particular provider solely because the provider is listed, verified, subscribed, or appears in search results.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, condition, representation, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Local Health will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from use of the service.
For claims by a paid provider or practice arising from the paid Local Health service, Local Health's aggregate liability for claims arising from the same events will not exceed the fees actually paid to Local Health by that claimant during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, except where a greater remedy is required by law.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Mandatory consumer rights and remedies continue to apply.
A provider or practice is responsible for losses, claims, regulatory issues, or third-party demands arising from information it knowingly or negligently submits that is materially false, its professional services, its unlawful use of patient information, or its material breach of these Terms.
To the extent permitted by law, a provider or practice agrees to indemnify Local Health against third-party claims arising from those matters, except to the extent the claim was caused by Local Health's own negligence, wilful misconduct, or breach of law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without limiting mandatory rights that apply to a consumer in another province or territory.
Before starting formal proceedings, the parties should make a reasonable effort to resolve a dispute through support or written notice where appropriate. Nothing in this section prevents a person from contacting a regulator, privacy commissioner, professional college, consumer-protection authority, or other body where they have a legal right to do so.
Local Health does not require consumers to give up non-waivable statutory rights through these Terms.
Local Health may update these Terms as the service, law, or business model changes. The effective date will be updated when changes are posted.
Material changes will be communicated in a reasonable manner. Where law or the nature of a change requires renewed agreement, Local Health may ask you to accept the updated Terms before continuing to use the affected feature.
Questions about these Terms, billing, or account issues can be sent to support@localhealthcare.ca. Privacy questions and requests are handled under the Privacy Policy.
