Many private physiotherapy clinics let you contact them directly, but a referral may be required for some insurance plans or funded programs. Always check the route you are using.
A clinic may accept appointments without a doctor's referral while your insurer still requires one for reimbursement. Government-funded services have their own eligibility and documentation rules.
Even if a referral is not required to contact a physiotherapy clinic, a clinician may recommend medical assessment first based on your symptoms.
Ask the clinic whether a referral is needed for your chosen appointment and ask the insurer separately whether a referral is needed to submit a claim.
