Ontario care guide
Coverage for massage therapy depends on your individual benefits plan and the professional providing the service. A clinic being listed on Local Health is not proof of insurance coverage.
Look for a massage therapy or registered massage therapist benefit in your plan documents. Check the yearly maximum, percentage reimbursed, per-visit limit and whether you need a referral or authorization.
Ask whether your plan requires the provider to be registered with the applicable Ontario regulatory college. Keep the detailed receipt and verify its required fields with your insurer.
Massage therapy in private clinics is generally not an OHIP-insured service. A private benefits plan may help pay, but coverage varies.
