Ontario care guide
An adult who wants an ADHD assessment can start by talking with a qualified healthcare professional about symptoms, history and functional concerns. The type of assessment and costs depend on the service.
A primary care clinician may be able to assess or refer you for ADHD concerns. Psychologists and specialty clinics may offer formal assessments with different fees and wait times.
An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis or a prescription. If medication is part of your goal, ask who provides ongoing prescribing and follow-up before paying for a private assessment.
Ask about total fees, what the report contains, the qualifications of the assessor, whether family or school history is needed, and who handles follow-up care.
